Santa Monica Wedding Flowers: Casa Del Mar Florist

December 24, 2011

I know, I know it’s embarrassing to admit–I haven’t blogged in almost two months.  I have been so busy….so, so busy. You know–the holidays, shopping, events, consultations, weddings.  My weddings are now completed for 2011.  I have three weeks before my first 2012 wedding so I had better get blogging now!

Want to know something magical about Southern California?  You can have a gorgeous beach wedding any month of the year.  It’s true.  This wedding was in October and it was so warm and sunny.  The venue was in Santa Monica at Casa Del Mar.  The couple, Caroline and Matt, are super sweet!  Just a really, really nice couple and I was so happy to work with them.  Congrats Caroline and Matt!

October 23, 2011

Are these two cute, or what?  Such a wonderful couple and super fun to work with.  This wedding took place at the Old Ranch Country Club in Seal Beach.  My father used to work here on the golf course when he was in high school, funny right?

The bride shared some of the beautiful photos with me taken by Happy Photos.

The Seal Beach Country Club is a great venue in Orange County and it is centrally located next to Los Alamitos, Huntington Beach, and Long Beach.

Again, thanks Amy for sharing these photos with my by Happy Photos.

The Long Beach Museum of Art is always one of my favorite venues.  If you read the blog on a regular basis, you probably already know that.  I love this shot of Katherine and Brian, taken by the talented Andy Seo, because it captures the great view of the ocean right behind the beautiful couple.

I just loved the soft pinks and ivory tones of this wedding.  It was just gorgeous!

Don’t you just love this shot with the sun behind them?  Thanks again Andy for the photo!

Los Angeles and Orange County Wedding Florist Brooch Bouquet Vintage Rhinestones

August 22, 2011

One of my favorite trends currently is bouquets using antique and vintage jewels.  It is a totally unique and fresh look! Here are two of my favorites that I created recently for Ceremony Magazine.

These jeweled bouquets require some serious skill and I usually spend several weeks or months finding the rhinestones and then I spend hours putting it together.  In the end, the result is something that is not only gorgeous but a keepsake that lasts for generations.  You can see more photos on our website Bride and Bloom Flowers.

Museum of Latin American Art Wedding Flowers Los Angeles – Long Beach

August 3, 2011

This wedding was gorgeous! The bride, Annie, had amazing taste.  She is so funny, she told me, “I don’t like flowers, I like plants.” So, we used lots and lots of succulents, thistles, baby pine cones, and then of course a touch of roses and tulips for color.  These amazing photos were taken by Lindsey Cahill!

The Latin American Museum of Art is a fabulous wedding venue located in Long Beach.  This wedding took place in the sculpture garden which succulents, cactus, rock gardens, and of course, a vivid fuchsia accent wall.  The chuppa was decorated with succulents, orchids, and roses.

Long Beach Museum of Art Oceanview LBMA Wedding Flowers

May 31, 2011

One of the most beautiful weddings I have ever worked on was in May at the Long Beach Museum of Art, LBMA.  Here are a few photos from that day.  These great shots were taken by Mia Dolce who is a wedding photographer based in Los Alamitos.

I love the Long Beach Museum of Art.  This building, which is a century old, is a registered historic building with SO much character.  Not only is it a gorgeous structure, it also faces the ocean and is one of the few venues in Los Angeles County with a TRUE ocean view from a cliff.  The museum has wonderful food made by Claire’s the museum’s restaurant.

The bride, Julie, was going for an antique botanical feel and she chose beautiful  flowers like peonies, garden  roses, Queen Anne’s Lace, and oak leaf hydrangea. This was used in the bouquets but the centerpieces were comprised of crystallized lemons.  Each lemon (all 352 of them) were crystallized one-by one by myself and my floral assistant. Below the lemons were some of Julie’s favorite herbs; rosemary, lavender, and a bed of eucalyptus leaves which had the most  amazing scent.  The cake incorporated the fruit theme with organic kumquats which were crystallized.  The kumquats were grown locally and shipped, along with the lemons, from an organic grower in Ventura County.

How cute are the bride’s shoes? Too cute! Her dress is one of my favorites too and was designed by Jim Hjelm.

Venue: LBMA

Featured in Ceremony Magazine Woodland Romance Flowers

May 12, 2011

So I am FINALLY posting some of the photos from the Ceremony Magazine shoot.

Here are some of the shots that were captured at the Langham Hotel in Pasadena.  BTW, the staff there was wonderful!  Just so, so helpful.  It was also pouring cats and dogs that day and really the rain never let up.  While this made set up and loading difficult, it also made the lighting perfect for this “Fall colored” floral shoot.

The menu cards were made by Monica at Paper Cut Industries and were topped with a succulent.  The wedding flowers consisted of dahlias, succulents, orchids, roses, and ranuculus which were out of season but somehow I was able to secure a few!

And last, but not least, the full table shot.  Perhaps I should have waited for Fall to post these cozy pics but I just couldn’t wait another 4 months!!! If you would like to see more please visit www.brideandbloomflowers.com We were selected to be  a featured florist in the Los Angeles and the Orange County editions this year. These shots are from pg. 148-149 of the LA current issue.

California Winery Wedding Flowers:Fun Geometric Patterns Too!

April 3, 2011

It’s been a bit tough for me to blog lately–just so busy with events.  I had to post just a few photos of a recent wedding I did in Temecula at Los Willows.  This couple had impeccable taste and used one of my favorite color combinations–black, white, and yellow.  Here are some of the flower photos.  We used spider mums, China mums, and hydrangeas.  Also, I have a few photos of the candy bar that the couple did themselves.  In fact, they own a candy buffet co. called “All You Can Sweet“.  Congrats Dylan and Lucas, I’m really happy for you!

Roy Lichtenstein inspired Wedding Table Avia Hotel

February 14, 2011

Utterly Engaged, a fantastic online wedding magazine, had their annual party this year at the Avia Hotel in Long Beach.  One of the highlights was the tabletop contest. Nine teams of event specialist came up with table settings based on the theme “Snap,Crackle, and Pop.”   I was part of “Team 8″ which was headed by Intertwined Events, cake by Erica O’Brien, art work by Mintwich Designs, photos by Henry Chen, and of course flowers by Bride and Bloom.

We  decided to focus on “Pop” and were inspired by pop art–bold graphics and the artwork of Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol.  Each team was allowed a budget of only $150.  Here is what we came up with…..

This wooden structure in the first photo was made by my father–Thanks Dad!

You can view the magazine online at Utterly Engaged….
